Pre-K Counts Teacher

This position follows the school calendar year, Monday – Friday; 8:00am-4:00pm

The Barber National Institute Pre-K Counts preschool program is part of a statewide initiative to provide a high-quality preschool experience free of charge for children of qualifying families.

Join a team of highly qualified teachers and help to facilitate the development of knowledge and skills required to enter kindergarten.


  • Planning and developing curriculum instructional plans based on the PA Early Learning Standards and delivered in a supportive, nurturing and child-focused environment.
  • Prepare and deliver active, hands-on and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, collaborative rapport with each student and their family, providing opportunities for family to be engaged in their child’s learning.
  • Establish regular and ongoing means of communication with parents.
  • Conduct comprehensive child assessment through interaction with and observation of child in the natural routines of the preschool day.
  • Collect ongoing data and observation of each student’s progress, prepare and share progress on an ongoing basis through the school year, including parent conferences.
  • Collaborate with the preschooler’s family and service providers for children receiving support from early intervention, implementing activity in support of the IEP and sharing observation and documentation with the IEP team as requested.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as required by Pre-K Counts program regulations, as determined necessary by the school and needed to maintain PA teaching certification.


  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Valid PA driver’s license
  • Bachelors Degree in Education, Pennsylvania Certification in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
  • Experience working with preschool aged children is required
  • Experience working with developmentally disabled children is preferred
  • Eligibility for State Police Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse History Clearances, and PA Dept. of Education FBI clearances
  • FBI clearance required for individuals who do not meet PA residency requirements
